I have always had mixed feelings about Myrtle Beach, SC. Just 2 hours north of my beloved city of Charleston, the difference in the two cities is night and day. Charleston is historic, traditional, natural, and beautiful. Myrtle beach is like Las Vegas, but instead of casinos, there are put put palaces.
My niece, Tori, had her annual dance competition in Myrtle beach this weekend and my family flew in from Michigan to support her. This is the 3rd year in a row the competition has been in Myrtle Beach and the 3rd year in a row I have been fortunate enough to spend time with my family there. Each year, we have rented an ocean-front condo, gone to the water park, Myrtle Waves, played a game of put put, eaten at the tourist trap locations, and spent time on the beach with the masses of people who are all doing the same thing. However, this year, I felt a fondness for the city and I really enjoyed it for what it is... pure entertainment.
I realized this trip that the lights, attractions, events, cotton candy, tourist trap malls, and everything else that used to bug me are actually a lot of fun! The city is a blast as long as you are not looking for tradition, but rather pure entertainment - Las Vegas without the gambling. It was great to be there with the family, and I really hope we are able to spend time there every year.

Charleston Flag Football Champs
We are the new division 3 champions of the Charleston flag football league! The championship match was intense, and had been highly anticipated due to numerous rain delays. The weather finally cooperated on Wednesday and we pulled out the victory on a last second QB scramble for the win. It was a complete team effort. Our team scored first and then I came up with an interception from a tipped pass by fellow pass rusher Derek. The other team scored twice on circus catches to tie it up at half. They scored first in the second and converted the 2 pt try. With 1:29 left on the clock and down one point, the offense drove the Field and put the ball in for the win. Congrats to the team!!!
